Hi, lovely to meet you!
Chakshu London was founded by three friends who met while studying Optometry at City University, graduating back in 2010. Since then, we’ve shared not only our profession but also plenty of life outside it; from travelling together to volunteering on eye care charity projects.
In 2015, our love for eyewear led us to start Chakshu London, the eyewear brand. We spent time at optical exhibitions across Europe, ran pop-ups around London (including Boxpark in Shoreditch), and discovered a passion for unique, independent eyewear labels.
That journey eventually led to opening Chakshu London Opticians in 2019. Our aim was simple: to combine our clinical experience with the independent eyewear we’d fallen in love with, creating a practice that feels personal, welcoming, and a little bit different from the rest.
At Chakshu, we still hold onto that same spirit - expert care, quality frames you won’t find everywhere else, and a genuine love for what we do.

Unlike the often rushed feeling of high street opticians, our appointments are unhurried, giving us the time to be diligent in our approach. This allows us to detect early signs of conditions such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration, as well as tailor advice for modern visual demands like digital eye strain and screen use.
While our fees are higher than average, they reflect the level of detail, technology and care we dedicate to every patient. You’ll always leave your eye test with complete confidence in your vision and the reassurance that your long-term eye health is in expert hands. Unlike many high street opticians, we’ve never limited ourselves to a single supplier. If you have a preferred brand, we’ll always discuss it with you, but our priority is recommending lenses that provide the best quality, comfort and results.
