Chakshu glasses have all been thoughtfully designed by the co-founders in London; and handcrafted in Italy. All frames go through a meticulous 72 step manufacturing process, to ensure pristine quality with each pair. Premium Italian acetate is used in all of our plastic frames, which offers an air of luxury and unique colour designs.
All glasses include anti-glare, scratch resistance, UV protection, and thinner and lighter lenses.
Our ethos is that the best should be given as standard.
Chakshu was created by four optometrists in 2016, who all graduated together from City University in London. Our co-founders have worked in a variety of different optometric settings from smaller independent stores to larger retail chains. Combined they have over 30 years of experience between them.
Chakshu is a Sanskrit word meaning vision. Our vision is to be able to give everyone the right to sight. That’s why with each pair of glasses sold a percentage of the profits will go to help our chosen charity Vision Care for Homeless People.
They aim to preserve, protect and promote the ocular health of homeless and vulnerable people in the UK who are unwilling or unable to access mainstream services available through the NHS. They include screening of ocular health and the provision of spectacles, which meets the immediate visual needs of the beneficiaries. Research has shown that homeless people have a higher proportion of uncorrected refractive error and therefore are much more in need of regular eye examinations and the provision of spectacles.
This is a charity that the co-founders hold close to their hearts, and enjoy donating their professional skills and time, as well as fundraising for them.
